i started taking pictures of myself in 2001.
it has always been a little about vanity, about trying to find some beauty reflected back at me.
and it's a journey, too.
but mostly it is about reconciling what's in my head with what's in the mirror.

these days i only take pictures of my face because i can't bear the rest of me.
even my face, most days, is more than i can stand.

somehow i always end up looking like a little girl.
there's something unfinished about me, something vacant.
like a deer in headlights.

my skin is covered with acne and old scarring and i'm curiously lopsided.

the older i get, the darker my hair gets. this is my natural colour, albeit unwashed.
then again, it's unwashed most of the time.

i am always in hiding and usually from myself. i spend a lot of time in bathrooms.
this is how i am.
