{"id":101,"date":"2011-05-13T20:22:17","date_gmt":"2011-05-13T20:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/andbirds.org\/sc\/?p=101"},"modified":"2011-05-13T20:23:42","modified_gmt":"2011-05-13T20:23:42","slug":"the-shades-of-pemberley-are-polluted-by-this-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andbirds.org\/sc\/?p=101","title":{"rendered":"The Shades of Pemberley are Polluted&#8230;by this story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>Shades of Pemberley<\/em><\/strong> by edlebelle &amp; mysterious writing partner<\/p>\n<p>I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know where to begin with this one.\u00c2\u00a0 This also belongs to the secret relations genre, as well as the royalty genre.\u00c2\u00a0 Also the Bennets are worse parents than in cannon genre.\u00c2\u00a0 Well&#8230;I might as well get to it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you should read it:<\/strong> You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re a masochist who enjoys bad writing and ridiculous plots (and not in a so bad it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s good sort of way).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why you might not like it:<\/strong> Oh&#8230;where do I begin?\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s badly in need of an editor\/beta, although even with the best editor I doubt this story can be redeemed and even be made mediocre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Regency, NC-17, AU WIP <\/strong>at<strong> <a title=\"AHA\" href=\"http:\/\/meryton.com\/aha\/index.php?showtopic=8554\" target=\"_blank\">AHA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In this story Elizabeth is the product of an affair between an already married Mr Bennet and a Portuguese Princess, and somehow even though she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a bastard has the title of Princess and while the Bennet\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s are nasty, the Portuguese side completely accepts her once she finds out they exist.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not really sure how to describe the plot, a cross between train wreck and a soap opera might be the best description&#8230;let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s see Elizabeth and Darcy fall in love early, despite Mr Bennet telling him that she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a bastard (something he tells all prospective suitors to drive them away), then she sleeps with and runs away after hearing that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a bastard daughter of a Portuguese maid, and then she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s attacked and almost raped and of course is saved by Darcy&#8230;then they get married&#8230;um then the same men come and attack her again.\u00c2\u00a0 I have no idea what happened after that, because I couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even bring myself to skim through it after a while.<\/p>\n<p>This is so poorly written I only read part of the first chapter and then skimmed through for a while, until I couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even handle that and gave up.\u00c2\u00a0 Here is an excerpt.\u00c2\u00a0 It actually looks like they got a beta to help with some of the writing since I originally looked at it\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It did not really matter if Elizabeth looked special, Mrs. Bennet thought. Mr. Collins \twould take her anyway he could get her of that she was certain, but her beautiful Jane \twas going to get Bingley and his 5,000 lbs tonight and with a bit of luck she would get a \tromance budding for Lydia and Mr. Darcy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The sex is not at all sexy.\u00c2\u00a0 Of course the term manhood is used.\u00c2\u00a0 Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a snippet: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153then his seed exploded in to her body and her passion ripened to accept the bounty he deposited.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>This is written by edlebelle and a mysterious writing partner who is always referred to as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153my writing partner\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in author\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s notes.\u00c2\u00a0 I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t really blame the writing partner for remaining anonymous, I wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t want to publicly connect myself with this either.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andbirds.org\/sc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/30quill1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15\" title=\"1 Quill\" src=\"https:\/\/andbirds.org\/sc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/30quill1.gif\" alt=\"1 Quill\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shades of Pemberley by edlebelle &amp; mysterious writing partner I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know where to begin with this one.\u00c2\u00a0 This also belongs to the secret relations genre, as well as the royalty genre.\u00c2\u00a0 Also the Bennets are worse parents than in cannon genre.\u00c2\u00a0 Well&#8230;I might as well get to it.
