Some Small Tokens of Her Affection

Some Small Tokens of Her Affection by sixbeforelunch

Small Tokens is an adorable little story about Henry Tilney getting sick before his marriage to Catherine Morland and her reaction to that.

Why you should read it: It’s Northanger Abbey fic.  It’s delightful.  It’s well-written

Why you might not like it: You’re allergic to too much cuteness.  You never understood the appeal of NA in the first place.

This story is an delightful epistolary fic about the secret correspondence between Catherine and Henry before their engagement.  It’s also humorous; men can be really childish annoying while sick.  The Morland’s response to Henry’s illness is also sweet, and very in character.  From Catherine’s letter to Henry:

My mother says that asking an invalid to eat only gruel and ale does nothing but take away their desire for this life and make them more eager to pass into the next.

I am running out of synonyms for adorable, so I think it may be time to either break out the thesaurus or end the review, being lazy I’m going to choose the later.
